Membership
General rules
The safety of all Club members is a top priority. All Club riding practices shall be in accordance with state and local traffic laws. Riding practices required by the Club include but are not limited to the following:
- Obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals. Members shall come to a complete stop at all red lights and stop signs.
- Hard shell ISI approved (or equivalent) motorcycling helmets must be worn by members and guests on all Club rides.
- Ride on the left, never ride against traffic.
- Ride no more than two abreast, returning to single-file if riding two abreast would impede the flow of traffic.
- • On curving canyon roads without bike lanes or shoulders, play it safe and ride single file.
- • Use hand signals at all times to indicate warnings, turns, slowing or stopping.
- If you are not familiar with group or paceline riding, it is your responsibility to communicate such to other Club riders.
- Riders should carry valid license and proof of insurance with them at all times. They should also have a valid ID proof with the current address.
- When passing other riders, always announce yourself before starting to pass. Ensure that while passing you are not putting yourself or the other rider in danger. Always pass on the left.
- Members shall maintain their riding equipment in safe and serviceable condition.
- Always ride in a safe, courteous manner which becomes The Scoutriders and reflects positively on motorcycling and our sponsors.
- Ride leaders may, at any time, request a member or guest not participate in a Club ride if the ride leader determines the safety of the participant, member, guest or others may be in any jeopardy.
Vehicles
To keep every ride safe, smooth, and in sync, all participants must follow these vehicle-related rules:
- Engine Size Requirement -Only motorcycles 250cc and above are allowed on ScoutRiders group rides. Smaller displacement bikes may be permitted for specific events, but require prior approval.
- Street-Legal Only - All vehicles must be street-legal and registered unless the event is off-road specific. Functional headlights, brake lights, mirrors, and horns are required.
- Proper Licensing & Insurance - Riders must hold a valid motorcycle license or endorsement. Proof of insurance is required in regions where it is mandated by law.
- Sound Levels - Exhaust systems must be within reasonable noise levels. Excessively loud or modified pipes may be prohibited in residential areas or on certain routes.
- Road-Ready Condition - Good tires, working brakes, and safe throttle/clutch operation. No leaking fluids or unsafe modifications.
- No Unapproved Vehicles - No scooters, mopeds, or electric bikes (unless explicitly permitted). Trikes, ATVs, or non-motorcycle vehicles are not allowed on group rides unless event-specific.
